Before the Bull Dog 225, CYYC released the original, undersized (50.64 mm) Bull Dog in 2010. Then, in 2013, CYYC re-released the Bull Dog but with an increased diameter of 57.15 mm (2.25"). Hence the engraved name "Bull Dog 225". At the 25th annual National Yo-Yo Contest, held in Chico, California, October 6-8, 2017, CYYC once again re-released the Bull Dog 225. It is the same design as the 2013 model, but with cosmetic changes. This 2017 National Yo-Yo Contest edition came in limited quantities (37 total pieces) of all blue, all black, or a combination of one blue halve and one black halve. So, approximately 12 of each color was released and one extra of which color is unknown. This edition also sported a beautiful laser engraved "Mandala" rim design and different engravings on both halves.

Of interest...
The Mandala rim design was actually first introduced in early 2015 on the Tom Kuhn SB-4 Cobalt Mandala project that was cancelled. See the SB-4 exhibit for the original SB-4 Cobalt Mandala email announcement and SB-4 Cobalt Mandala pictures.

CYYC also did the laser engraved rims on the Tom Kuhn "Black Cat" yo-yo seen here.
