This 1948 Duncan Yo-Yo Winner shield patch uses a color combination similar to those found in 1930s period patches. Sometime during this same year, Duncan began to replace the white star on their patches with a yellow star. Then, in 1958 and 1959, Duncan Yo-Yo Expert patches began to use a blue and a red star, respectively.
1948 is the year Duncan resumed yo-yo production and contests after a five year hiatus due to World War II.
