The plastic Keds Space Wheel from the early 1970s was a free premium given to customers who bought a pair of Keds-brand shoes. The two-piece yo-yo was packaged in a cellophane wrapper along with an instruction/astronaut talk card, one thick gauge cotton cord, a ball puzzle picture, and small disc for the whistle portion. Like the free premium Duncan Junior and ?Cracker Jack yo-yos, the axle of the Space Wheel was molded into one halve and press fit into the other halve. The cord had to be tied around the axle and the ball puzzle picture press-fit into one halve face. The opposite side featured a whistle and the Morse Code molded into the plastic. You could blow the whistle for fun, or to send a Morse Code signal to your friends. As a yo-yo, it was poor quality and basically useless. But, hey, it was free! (sort of).
This exact same yo-yo—albeit called a 3-in-1 Space Yo-Yo—was also made available for free inside boxes of Post Honeycomb and Post Sugar Crisp cereal. Those versions came polybagged in colors white, red, yellow, green, and blue. The space-themed ball puzzle picture was eventually replaced with a sticker of the Post Sugar Crisp mascot Sugar Bear.
