The plastic, fixed metal axle Duncan Midnight Special rebranded as the Duncan Hyper Midnight, intended for the Japanese market, and mounted on its original Japanese "Hyper Midnight" card. This particular model's production was discontinued by Bandai after a brief time on the market. As a result, the yo-yo and its matching card are now quite hard to find. The silver imprint on these yo-yos was poorly applied.
The Hyper Midnight was one of the first yo-yos that Bandai released in their popular Hyper Yo-Yo series (link to poster). The model was sold in Japan exclusively in the Spring of 1997.
The US version and the Japanese versions are identical to the standard Duncan Imperial, Duncan Glow, and 2168Duncan Neo. The only difference between these two "Midnight" models and the Imperial/Glow/Neo was the name and color.
