BC/What's Next No. 501 - Lightning with double lightning bolt and green/turquoise/purple laminates and fixed axle. It used the same stamped foil logo design that was used on the No. 500, sans the circular portion of the logo. It did not come with a velvet drawstring carry bag like the No. 500. Came with "The Official BC YoYo Instruction Manual" trick sheet and two extra cotton strings in a small zip close plastic bag.
The No. 501 was actually made with two different logos: the stamped foil, double lightning bolt version, and the printed, matte silver, single lightning bolt version (see also the green/turquoise/purple version and the pink/blue version).
It's not clear how these two versions were released. Based on the double lightning bolt being used first on the No. 500 version, then again on the No. 501 (without the circle), it's possible that the double lightning bolt version was released first, followed by the single lightning bolt version.
BC Yo-Yo became a bit careless when it came to the packaging and other models; note that the card insert was branded for a BC Rainbow model. This indifference is found on many of their packaged yo-yos from the late 90s into the early twenty aughts. The wrong card insert in the packaging does not (and should not) decrease the value of the yo-yo. Some packaging also came with a "Wood Rocks - Tom Kuhn - Yo-Yo Instruction Manual", some came with "The Official BC YoYo Instruction Manual", while some didn't come with any manual.
