This is a 2021 Duncan :Hornet yo-yo featuring customized side cap designs: one side displays a Honey Bee motif, while the other features branding for the YoYo Maniax store. It was sold exclusively through the YoYo Maniax webstore in Japan, which launched in 2020.
Originally released in 2012, the Hornet was Duncan’s premier looping yo-yo, designed to support a wide range of players—from beginners to seasoned pros. It featured removable inner washers (spacers) that let players fine-tune responsiveness. This adjustability let you choose between longer sleep times for string tricks or tighter response for rapid looping. Oiling the bearing could further increase responsiveness.
This particular version featured a translucent green body with translucent yellow side caps, giving it a vibrant, eye-catching appearance. It was a YoYo Maniax special order model and has an improved starburst height. It was recommended that you use a ball bearing oil that is specific for looping yo-yos (thicker) and use a Type 6 string (50% polyester and 50% cotton).
This yo-yo model had no packaging from Duncan or YoYoManiax; instead, it was a polybagged bulk item.
