From the doctorpopular.com website:
"An ultralight modern responsive yo-yo manufactured in Eugene, OR. A brand new style of yo-yo inspired by old school play. This version of the Weekender has been updated with a fingerspin area on the sides, which is great for doing pull-starts. These fingerspin cups also add a little more weight than the original Weekenders, which most folks seem to prefer."

On Thursday, April 14, 2022, the Weekender yo-yo, version 2, was released in solid colors of red, orange, and blue . The energy dome hub nubs that were found on the Weekender, version 1, were replaced with finger spin cups that let you do “pull-starts” to get the yo-yo spinning. The finger spin cups were not new to Doctor Popular's yo-yos. The feature was first introduced on his Icarus yo-yo in 2018.

On Monday, August 29, 2022, the Weekender, version 2 was released again in solid colors, this time in yellow (seen in this exhibit) and purple.
