The Icarus yo-yo was designed by Brian Roberts (aka Doctor Popular) and released Friday, June 1, 2018. Made by One Drop Yo-Yos of Eugene, Oregon.
This aluminum yo-yo feels light and floaty with a classic yo-yo feel. It also incorporates finger spin cups that let you do pull-starts to get the yo-yo spinning. The finger cups were later added to the second version of the Weekender yo-yo that came out April 14, 2022. The cups replaced the original energy dome-like hub nubs on the first version of the Weekender.

From the Doctor Popular website:
"What are those holes for? They are an experiment of sorts. I wanted to see if I could reduce some of the middle weight, leaving more stability in the center and outer edges of the yo-yo. I was also hoping to see if the extra air friction from the holes would help keep the loops open during yo-yo 'suicides'. But mainly I wanted them their because I think they look awesome."
A nice playing yo-yo. Of the thousands of yo-yos that I own and have tried, this model is in my top five most favorite.
Original retail price: $75 US.
