The Duncan Velvet was basically a Duncan Imperial model covered with a nylon flocking to give it a fuzzy, velvet-like texture. The Velvet model came in a variety of flocked colors including pink, red, orange-brown, yellow, green, light blue, purple, and black (seen in this exhibit).

The Velvet debuted in 1972. Yo-yos from that year are stamped in gold or silver on the face of one halve with Duncan Velvet © 1972 FPC [Flambeau Products Corporation]. The yo-yo in this exhibit is such an example. Velvet yo-yos manufactured after 1972 and into about 1974 or 1975 are also stamped in gold or silver but do not have the copyright.

Original retail price: $1.49 US.
