In 2010 Japan experienced a much smaller yo-yo boom compared to the one between 1997-2001. Across Japan, Bandai organized a well run system in which players could be trick-certified in various levels of play.

The card in this exhibit was for the "Super" level. Certification of tricks was conducted at authorized stores and events that were approved by Bandai Hyper Yo-Yo. If you successfully completed ten of the 12 tricks listed on the back of the card, you earned the level indicated on the card. Players could also visit the official Hyper Yo-Yo website to learn more about various levels of certification.

The yo-yo seen on side A of the card is the Bandai Thunderdrake. And, yes, the yo-yo had a red LED on the side of the yo-yo, positioned in the dragon's mouth, just like the one pictured on the card.

It is not entirely clear what a player earned for a certain level or for mastering a trick. I have seen yo-yos, patches, stickers, shirts, and other memorabilia given as certification awards.

On the back of the card, the top row of tricks were the following:
• Sleeper
• Forward Pass
• Side Shoot
• Walk the Dog
• Elevator
• Loop the Loop

The bottom row of tricks included the following:
• Star Tail
• Break Away
• Rocket
• Creeper
• Rock the Baby
• Around the World

Each time you successfully completed a trick the authorized Hyper Yo-Yo person either signed their initials or stamped the empty space above the trick's name.

The blank space at the bottom of the card, on the back, was for your name.

Japan's second yo-yo boom at the start of Spring 2010 did not last long. By the end of 2012 it had died off.
