Yomega Yo-Mods was a customizable yo-yo system introduced in April, 2012. The system included three different yo-yo models: the Pro Speed (dead response); the BX-2 (less response); and the G-R (responsive; normal yo-yo play). While all three yo-yos played great individually, the parts--such as the spacers, pads, and halves, all color-coded--were completely interchangeable among each model. For example, you could swap the return system pads from the G-R (green) to the Pro Speed (black) to make it more responsive. Put the spacers from the Pro Speed into the BX2 (blue) for a wider gap. This kind of flexibility let you easily customize the play and feel of the yo-yo to your own liking--assuming you bought all three models (or at least two of them) to swap parts. At an original retail price of $20 each, it probably became cost prohibitive for many kids.
The Yomega Pro Speed in the Yo-Mods system was 70 grams total weight making it the heaviest model. It came with a high quality 10 ball, size C ball bearing, hard response pads, spacers for a wide string gap, and plastic rim-weighted halves with internal aluminum shells. In the series, this model was considered the upper-end in performance. However, it was also the most challenging to use and play because of its dead response.
It's interesting to note that this model is still being made and sold by Yomega as of 2018. However, the packaging no longer says "Yo-Mods Customizable Yo-Yo System" on the front. In fact, Yo-Mods is no longer a yo-yo customization system marketed by Yomega. I believe this change occurred sometime in 2016. You can, however, still swap out parts from the BX2 and G-R models, even though those particular models are no longer being made. Note also, the 2012 version of the Pro Speed came in an "exploded parts" view packaging pictured in this exhibit; the current (as of 2018) Pro Speed model came completely assembled inside the packaging.
