Bandai's Hyper Yo-Yo branded, fixed axle Woodbullet, made by Duncan. This yo-yo was sold exclusively in Japan.

The Woodbullet was essentially a Duncan ProYo fitted with Hyper Yo-Yo designed side caps, a Japanese exclusive. The axle is wood, giving it a smoother feeling compared to other yo-yos in Bandai's Hyper Yo-Yo lineup. Like the Duncan ProYo, you can disassemble the body, but the only necessary maintenance is changing the string. The wooden axles on the Woodbullet needed some breaking in before yo-yo play became optimal. It was recommended that you take the string off and wrap it once around the axle, then pull the string quickly until it comes off. You needed to repeat this process about ten times to smooth out the axle's surface. Each Woodbullet came with a special black string from Duncan. Replacement wood axles for the Woodbullet were also available at the time. The axles also fit Duncan ProYos. The yo-yo body itself was made up of two different translucent colored halves. The six color combinations that were available included the following: red/orange (seen in this exhibit), blue/green, black/clear, dark purple/light purple, and medium blue/light blue.

The ProYo/Woodbullet has always been considered an excellent yo-yo for first time players; it has all the abilities necessary to build a strong foundation of yo-yo fundamentals. The package came with a user's manual with instructions for basic care and tricks. Using this official Hyper Yo-Yo, you could receive official Hyper Yo-Yo certification at any official participating Yo-Yo store in Japan, such as REWIND or SpinGear.

Bandai is one of Japan's most famous toymakers. Bandai has brought together the world's leading yo-yo brands to design special models for their Hyper Yo-Yo series, a Japan-exclusive. Bandai sought to rekindle the Hyper Yo-Yo boom of the late 1990's, responsible for more than 20 million yo-yos sold worldwide and forever changing the international yo-yo scene. Hyper Yo-Yo was revived in 2004, and again in 2010, for the 3rd generation of future yo-yo masters. Duncan, Yomega, and YoYoFactory were all tapped to contribute their best beginner models to the fray, with Bandai providing their production and marketing power being the 2010 Yo-Yo boom. Only 2010 and higher model Hyper Yo-Yos could only be used to attain official Hyper Yo-Yo certification.

Original retail price: $11 US.
