The international version of Duncan's Butterfly branded with Walt Disney's Donald Duck. Made in West Germany. This hard-to-find version (at least here in the USA), was sold in Great Britain and other European countries. Identical to the American version, but with different side caps. This yo-yo features a bright yellow body with white side caps featuring a color picture of Donald Duck performing what appears to be the "Sleeper" trick with a yellow yo-yo. The caps also contain the Duncan logo and the Walt Disney Production trade mark on the edge .
See also the Duncan Butterfly "Goofy" yo-yo.
Walt Disney Productions and Duncan Yo-Yos teamed together many times over the years, starting in the 1960s, to produce some numerous character yo-yos. This yo-yo was sold in Europe for Duncan, and was promoted by Don Robertson, "European Yo-Yo Champion". This same yo-yo model was also produced with Goofy and Mickey Mouse side caps.
The front of the card features a picture of Don Robertson performing "Rock the Baby". Don was a European Yo-Yo champion from around 1972. He first worked for Lumar (a European yo-yo maker), along with Art Pickles, a popular yo-yo demonstrator from Britain. Don then worked for Duncan Yo-Yo, also as a demonstrator. In 1986, Don Robertson authored the paperback 50 Tricks with a Duncan Yo-yo. See Don Robertson demonstrating his yo-yo skills from 1990 in front of an audience.
The card back describes how to throw some basic tricks.
