The Black Bean, featuring a glossy orange body and matching side caps, is a lesser-known looping yo-yo produced by Yo-Yo Empire of China in collaboration with BLK SENS (Black Sense), a group based in Hong Kong. Little information is available about Black Sense, which began operations in 2012. Primarily, they focused on yo-yo design and collaborated with brands like Yo-Yo Empire. Their activities also extended to public yo-yo performances, teaching yo-yo tricks, and hosting gatherings for members of the Masterpiece Yo-Yo Club. At one point, Black Sense ran an online yo-yo shop starting in May 2013, which ceased operations around late 2016.
The yo-yo showcased here differs from the more commonly known [Yomega Raider-type](http://www.yoyomuseum.com/museum_view.php?action=view&subaction=exhibit&exhibitid=3468) models, which are rare for a looping-only design. Instead, it shares a profile and feel similar to the [YoYoJam Sunset Trajectory](http://www.yoyomuseum.com/museum_view.php?action=view&subaction=exhibit&exhibitid=3486).
Due to its relatively thin construction and high edge, the Black Bean offers a unique loop control distinct from the Raider, yet maintains good response, making looping smooth and easy. Included with the yo-yo are blue spacers of varying thickness from the pre-installed silver spacers, allowing users to customize the string gap to their preference.
