An International Duncan Sports Yo-Yo Junior in red and white, licensed by Duncan and sold in Japan by Tsukuda Original. Tsukuda Original was a Japanese maker of dolls, toys, games, and software. In 2002, Bandai acquired the company.
This model is a slightly smaller version of the full-size Duncan Sports Yo-Yo Super, better known in the United States as the Duncan Professional. Tsukuda Original also sold that larger model in Japan. The Junior version features child silhouettes of a boy and girl on the face of each yo-yo half.
For reasons that remain unclear, Duncan did not sell this model in the United States. Today, it is difficult to find, even in Japan.
The yo-yo likely dates to the early 1980s, when Duncan promoted “International Yo-Yoing” with a special trick book and distinctive graphics on the sides of the Professional yo-yo.
