"Episode of Yukichi
When I was a child, born on New Year's Day, I remember receiving a sum of money for my annual New Year's gift and birthday celebration.
With Soseki, Inazo, and Yukichi in my wallet, I visited the local toy, model, and game stores. Incidentally, this was a time when the toy chain store 'Toys Hello Mac,' famous for its unique building shape, was still going strong.
Of the three names I put in my wallet, Soseki and Inazo are good, but only Yukichi is exceptional. The thrill of looking at Yukichi is clearly different from that of the other two. ?In my opinion, Yukichi is the man most loved by the Japanese people over the past 40 years (with the exception of the Imperial family).
Even if I saved my monthly allowance and saved money, I would never be able to see Yukichi because, being a man of desire, I would never be able to save in the first place. The only time I am allowed to see Yukichi is on special occasions such as New Year's Day, birthdays, or when I advance to a higher grade in school.
Time has passed, and now that I am a so-called working adult, I welcome dozens of Yukichi every month, and at the same time, I send dozens of Yukichi home every month. But I wonder why. When I was a child, I was excited every time I met an admonishment, but now I do not feel anything. Bank accounts have become Internet banking, and most of our purchases are made through mail-order Internet payments. Cashless payment is now the norm for shopping at convenience stores. I just watch the numbers increase and decrease. The excitement I felt when I met 'Yukichi,' my 'Yukichi,' is not there.
July 3, 2024 - the year of 2024. The day of true farewell to Yukichi finally arrives. I had forgotten that I had already said goodbye to Soseki and Inazo 20 years ago. Soseki and Inazo, I'm kind of sorry. Farewell, my admonition. Thanks for the memories.
As a tribute to Yukichi, I am releasing 'Yukichi the Big Money' to leave behind for posterity in the form of a yo-yo the fact that he enriched the lives of all Japanese people for 40 years."
This is a size D bearing monometal model with H-profile shape.
It has the powerful and lightweight feel typical of size D bearing models. The yo-yo has a responsiveness that does not lose sight of its actual weight, and there is a strange feeling of pleasure in being able to lightly move a yo-yo that has some weight on it. The orthodox and versatile size makes it suitable for all players. Even those who are new to size D bearing models can feel the appeal of size D bearings without any sense of discomfort.
The yo-yo is designed by Mr. Usuino, a leading yo-yo mechanics expert, and the large logo printed on the eye-catching face was drawn by Atelier Kaiyuri.
Manufacturer's comment
• The bearings are CP-06 D9 ball bearings. Please replace at your own risk.
• Response pad is CP-09 Blade Attack Pad (economy).
• The axle is a CP-15 M3.5. It can be removed with a commercially available M3 hex wrench.
Small scratches, stains, uneven coloring, machining marks, and so on, may occur during the manufacturing, assembly, and shipping processes, but these are product specifications."

• The Story of Yukichi
I was born on New Year's Day, and as a child, I remember receiving a lump sum of money every year as a New Year's gift and as a birthday gift. I would carry the names of Soseki, Inazo, and Yukichi in my wallet and visit local toy stores, model shops, and game stores. This was the time when the toy chain store 'Hello Mac,' famous for its unique building shape, was still going strong.
Of the three people I have in my wallet, Soseki and Inazo are good, but Yukichi is exceptional. The excitement I get when I look at Yukichi is clearly different from the other two. I think Yukichi is the man most loved by the Japanese people over the past 40 years (excluding the Imperial Family). Even if I were to save my monthly allowance, I am a mass of desire and cannot save money in the first place, so I would never be able to meet Yukichi. I am only allowed to meet Yukichi on special days such as New Year's, birthdays, and promotions.
Time passed, and now that I'm a working adult, I receive dozens of Yukichis every month, and at the same time, I send out Yukichis to dozens of people every month. But why? When I was a child, I used to get excited every time I met a Yukichi, but now I don't feel anything. My bank account is now online banking, and most shopping is done online. Cashless payment has become the norm when shopping at convenience stores. I just watch the numbers go up and down. The excitement I felt when I first met a Yukichi, "my Yukichi," is no longer there.
July 3, 2024, Reiwa 6. The day of my true farewell to Yukichi has finally come. Oh, no, I had completely forgotten that I had already said goodbye to Soseki and Inazo 20 years ago. Sorry, Soseki and Inazo.
Farewell, my Yukichi. Thanks for the memories. With my deepest respect for Yukichi, I have decided to release "Yukichi the Big Money" in the form of a yo-yo, in order to leave a legacy for future generations of the fact that he enriched the lives of all Japanese people for 40 years.
• Why Do We Make Yukichi Yo-Yo?
As always, we asked the leading yoyo mechanics expert, Sussu-san (Mr. Susukino), to design it.
We also couldn't find an illustrator who would do a portrait logo, so we asked Atelier Umiyuri, who is in a pinch when it comes to the portrait part.
The Bank of Japan will redesign its banknotes from July 3, 2024, and will discontinue the issuance of the 10,000 yen banknote featuring Fukuzawa Yukichi (Fukuzawa Yukichi), which began in 1984.
Fukuzawa Yukichi has been a symbolic figure in the Japanese economy for 40 years, from the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras.
The stagnation in economic growth has been called the "lost 30 years," but we Japanese people still live prosperous lives with a well-developed infrastructure and a robust social security system.
One of the things that supports this prosperous life is the strength of our own currency, the Japanese yen, and the 10,000 yen banknote featuring Fukuzawa Yukichi is a visualization of this concept. With this in mind,
'He Enriched the Lives of all Japanese People.'
I engraved it with the words ;Yukichi.' This is a Google translation, so please forgive me if the grammar is incorrect. Even now, when cashless payments are becoming more common, we ordinary people unconsciously count how many Yukichis Fukuzawa is worth when we earn or spend money. (?Celebrities don't count the number of Yukichis.)
While the starting salary of a new graduate is "about 20 Yukichis," the number of Yukichis increases as you work hard and improve your skills. When I buy bimetal, I think 'Two Yukichis,'; when I buy titanium, I think 'Five Yukichis,'; and when I win a rare Yoyo Jam yo-yo, I think '100 Yukichis.' I always click on things with Yukichis in mind. I'm releasing 'Yukichis the Big Money' as a final farewell to 'my Yukichis' and 'our Yukichis.'
The face of the RY-007 YUKIKO yo-yo model was used as the base for engraving the large portrait logo of Yukichi. The face of Yukichi The Big Money is designed with the same R (degree of curve) as the face of YUKIKO.
However, because the YUKIKO's face is based on a two-piece hollow structure combined with a POM cowl, how can we make it monometal while maintaining the face shape? After thinking about it, we increased the thickness from the state when the cowl was removed, and settled on an orthodox H-profile shape. It weighs about 62gm, which is the weight we usually design for size D bearing models. However, I think it feels a little heavy compared to the actual weight. The axle is the same as the Chocolate Mint is Not Toothpaste yo-yo model. (For the M3.5 Hex Axle, see the 'Chocolate Mint is Not Toothpaste' webpage.)"
Released in Japan only on July 3, 2024.
