About Imperial Toy Corporation
The Imperial Toy Corporation is a notable name in the toy industry, with a history that dates back to its founding in April 1969 by Fred Kort, a Holocaust survivor who emigrated to the United States after World War II. Based in North Hills, California originally (later, Los Angeles), the company became known for producing a variety of toys, including rubber animals, licensed action figures and, yes, yo-yos.
In 2006, Peter Tiger and Art Hirsch purchased the company from the Kort family. By that time, Imperial Toy Corporation had developed more than 900 products. Unfortunately, the company faced financial difficulties and went bankrupt in 2020. It was subsequently acquired by Ja-Ru, Inc., another toy company.
Imperial Toy Corporation's legacy includes a wide range of innovative and beloved toys that have left a lasting impact on the industry. They produced a variety of yo-yos that were popular for their affordability and unique designs. See some notable yo-yos from their line.
These yo-yos often featured the detailed imperial crown logo on one halve, which help identify them as products of the Imperial Toy Corporation. | |
