The YoYoFactory JDS - Boss - Jun Aramaki Edition in gold with a signed photo card from Jun Aramaki. This model is considered the fourth version of the Boss (see Shibuya store blog for explanation). The yo-yo is engraved on on side B with "2022 YoYoFactory JDS" even though the yo-yo was officially release for sale in Japan on May 2 2024 at 6:00 MST/21:00 JST.

"The famous small metal YoYoFactory Boss which debuted in 2009 has been renewed by SUS YOYO MECHANICS.
First released in 2009. Since then, in the early 2010s, while many metal yo-yos have appeared, the metal yo-yo "Boss" has been loved and gained a strong fan base despite being a small undersized yo-yo that is outside of the standard yo-yo specs of the era.
It has now been redesigned by SUS YOYO MECHANICS, a yo-yo design brand from Japan that is now behind many collaboration designs.
The new version is 3mm wider than the original, but there are no other major numerical changes in the specs [Rick: Not quite true]. The shape has been tweaked while maintaining the H-profile of the first version; the thickness of the wall around the axle has been shaved down to the absolute minimum to improve power and performance.
The effect is so strong that you can feel it from the moment you throw it. The Boss will become the definitive small metal yo-yo, once again showing modern players the advantages of undersized throws."

"YoYoFactory's first yo-yo called 'Boss' was released in 2009. It was then renewed as a new model in 2016. It was the company's masterpiece of small monometal yo-yos. In 2022, 'Boss' was released as a completely new yo-yo, designed by SUS Yoyo Mechanics, as 'JDS Boss', a member of the JDS (Japan Design Studio) series. Two years later, in 2024, 'YoYoFactory JDS - Boss' is reprinted.
With a small round body of just under 51mm diameter, which is similar to the YoYoFactory's 888 model, you can feel the size of the yo-yo being different from other yo-yos the moment you hold it, and at the same time it opens the door to expanding your trick repertoire. Let me do it. In fact, it shows outstanding ability to handle tricks such as chopsticks. It's not light, so when you shake it, you'll feel like it's packed with meat. It's not too heavy, so you can move it around quickly, and it's a comfortable and mobile yo-yo.
The backstory of the 2024 reissue is that Jun Aramaki, a staff member at Rewind Shibuya store, wanted to make a custom-made model of a small monometal yo-yo, and decided on the YoYoFactory JDS - Boss, so he decided to make the regular version. This led to the birth of a limited logo version that was reprinted and made to order. The bespoke model released as the Jun Aramaki Edition is engraved with a newly-designed logo written by Takumi Hashimoto of the Tokyo-based band Khaki.

"Yo-yo Factory will be releasing the Jun Aramaki Edition of 'JDS Boss'.
Commonly known as "Alchun Edition".
I chose the yo-yo and produced this product as a reprint and special order. It comes in two colors, gold and green, and has the original logo printed on it.
The 'JDS Boss' was originally a redesign of YoYoFactory's 'Boss' by SUS YOYO MECHANICS, and was released in 2022, but it has recently been out-of-print. I personally liked the yo-yo, so I started planning to reprint them, and both YYF and SUS were easily agreed upon.
The logo inspired by 'Archun' was designed by Takumi Hashimoto, the drummer for the Tokyo-based band Khaki. Because I am a fan of Khaki and also like Hashimoto's designs, I asked him to do it, and he gladly accepted. Thank you very much!
