A cloth award patch from the 1950s for the Royal Yo-Yo 8 Standard Tricks Award. The shield-shaped patch is embroidered in red and yellow on an off-white fabric ground. The patch features a small 5-point crown and chevron motif in the center that was characteristic of Royal yo-yos and award patches from the period.
This example measures 56mm tall x 52mm wide. The exact eight tricks required for a player to earn this patch are not entirely known. However, the patch almost certainly referred to the standard beginner-to-intermediate trick set of the 1950s, which commonly included tricks such as Sleeper, Walk the Dog, Creeper, Forward Pass, Around the World, Rock the Baby, and Loop the Loop.
