The American Metal Spin GadgetS was an aluminum yo-yo sold exclusively by Spingear's website (spingear-jp) in Japan at 00:00 (midnight) JST on April 4, 2024 (08:00 MST).
According to a spokesman from One Drop of Oregon, the Spin Gadget Metal US was not a collaboration effort between Spingear and One Drop. Instead, Spingear licensed the One Drop Side Effects used on the yo-yo (the black part seen in the picture). Spingear also gave the Spingadget yo-yo design to One Drop who did the machining and finishing on the yo-yos. Despite this workflow, the yo-yo is still considered fully a Spingear "Spin Gadget" product.
In previous years, Spingear had released the original Spin Gadget Plastic JP and the Spin Gadget Metal JP so the yo-yo's profile design is not new. The reason for the Spin Gadget Metal US version was primarily to take advantage of a newly designed set of 2.6 gram, flush mounted Ultra Light Lego Side Effects made by One Drop of Oregon. These custom made Side Effects offered multi-toy play possibilities in a yo-yo. They are unique to the yo-yo and to Spingear only. At least for now. The Side Effect could accept Lego pieces. And with additional machining of the Side Effect--provided by Spingear as an optional request--you could add extended axle mods to turn the Spin Gadget into a finger top, a spin top, a hubstacked yo-yo, and other designs. In that sense, the yo-yo truly lives up to its name as a Spin Gadget extraordinaire. See the Idea Gallery image in this exhibit. Of course, just like the original Spin Gadget, you could also optionally install 48mm diameter aluminum weight rings or 48mm POM diameter side caps of varying color designs to further customize its appearance and play performance.
Spingear has been notable in the past for creating other multi-toy solutions such as the release of their ingenious SpinX 4-in-1. A spin top, gyroscope, yo-yo, and fidget spinner, all in one.

"This is a spin gadget equipped with custom side effects produced by One Drop. I was thinking of getting one made in Oregon someday, but when I timidly suggested it to the owner, he said, "If it's a spin gear, I'd love it!" I was able to get him to say so, and I had him develop the drawing of the spin gadget into a side effect specification on the one-drop side. The process from prototyping to release went very well, and we were able to make it in time for the April 4th release date.
Bearings are C size. In addition, side effects are used around the axis. While maintaining the shape of a metal spin gadget, it has a different feel when used. Also, without forgetting the playful spirit that is unique to spin gadgets, this model has a wide range of mods.
The stiff spinning feeling of the D size bearing is gone, and it now feels looser.
The center of gravity has changed with the use of flow groove pads and side effects, giving it a solid feel and improving controllability. The soft action means you won't get tired of throwing, and the strong grip of the Flow Groove pad ensures a solid return. After all, you can feel how much fun it is to have the yo-yo return to your hand.
The color of the initial lot is Cerakote color, which has a beautiful vivid solid color. It is also a highly collectible model. Cerakote peels off more easily than alumite when hit, and since it is painted, it may peel off from the surrounding area. Please be careful when using it."

The side effects are American Metal Spin Gadget's original Ultra Light Lego Side Effects (ULLSE).
It is 2.6gm. Although it is Lego type, it has holes. This opens up a wide range of possibilities.
The product is produced in small batches after making a prototype, and if the trial production fee is passed on to the product price, it will become even more expensive, so we will also be selling the prototype itself.
It is a blue color, of which only 10 have been made in the world [Rick: all 10 were sold out in less than 8 seconds] and will no longer be produced. Also, at the time of prototyping, the specifications of the side effects have not been determined, and the prototype is spiked (red).
Since it is a spin gadget, it is naturally possible to attach a side cap.
Two sets of caps are included as standard. (Color is random) Please wear it as you like.
POM rings and aluminum rings (sold separately) can also be attached (some aluminum rings are compatible).
Using the Borderless 2 parts that were released the other day, you can enjoy a Made in Oregon "top" without any modification, just by rearranging the parts. Refer to the photo for how to wrap the string.
By extending the screw hole, you can attach a shaft to the outside, creating an American-made metal top with a protruding shaft! You can do everything from tightrope walking to large wheels by spinning the top in the same way as a regular top.
Screw hole extension processing is a manual service within the spin gear. There is also a possibility that parts of the alumite will come off and small scratches will be left on the side effect. This is a modification process that is not recommended for those who want to keep it for their collection. Please also keep in mind that the axis may shift due to the penetration, and adjustments may be required in terms of balance when making your selection. This modification is not officially recommended."
