The Apathy from boutique yo-yo maker Empathy was a mini stainless-steel yo-yo that came in a plain brown paper box... and that was all. It did not even include one measly string, which felt underwhelming for a $200 yo-yo. By comparison, Dressel Designs' Assassin 2.0 from 2024, also made of stainless steel and priced at a little more than half as much, included both a string and an extra bearing in a plastic canister. On value alone, the Apathy was one of the weakest yo-yo releases of 2024.
From yoyoexpert.com:
"Empathy's Apathy stands as a stainless steel masterpiece tailored for the intricate artistry of yo-yoing, especially suited for our friend, Keiran Cooper!
Crafted to complement Keiran’s technical style, the apathy boasts the ideal design for seamlessly navigating through dense trick formations. Subjective as it may be, its perfect shape facilitates effortless transitions in and out of your most challenging maneuvers, while its optimal size enhances the execution of your favorite chopsticks combos.
During play, this yo-yo gives the sensation of an enduring spin, despite its mere 67 gram weight. While it may initially feel substantial on the string, the blend of its compact shape and size allows for nimble maneuverability, ensuring it responds to your commands without the hefty feel."
