Spin Gear's Star Burst Limited - OSYC 2024. "OSYC" stands for Old School Yo-Yo Contest. Along with the contest logo, the side cap featured the names and autographs of two event staff members who hosted the contest:

• "Kenta T" (Kenta Takahashi), the contest emcee.
• "Hiraku F" (Hiraku Fujii), a contest judge.

About the Star Burst yo-yo
The Star Burst yo-yo was based on Spin Gear's introductory STEP1 design, but Spin Gear updated it with a new mold and changed the material to polycarbonate.

This model is designed for competitive looping and makes loop-based tricks easier to perform. Spin Gear optimized the starburst overall shape to improve string response and return performance. The body material changed from ABS to polycarbonate, which improved weight balance and increased durability. The yo-yo also included a built-in metal ball bearing, making it a competition-quality model.

The Star Burst supports faster, more controlled looping and is a strong choice for competitive players. It also works well for beginners learning looping because it requires only a small amount of oil and regular string replacement.

The product name comes from the "starburst" response system, which is the jagged raised area at the center of the inside halves. Compared to a regular STEP1, this starburst is taller, which helps it catch the string more reliably and deliver a stronger return.

Minor updates were introduced in the August 2020 production lot made the yo-yo easier to loop:

• Slightly increased the height of the starburst.
• Changed the nut to a nylon nut

In June 2021, Spin Gear released Version 1.2. Building on the success of the SGHG spacer, this version became a mass-produced model specialized for looping. The model in this exhibit is the 1.2 version.

About OSYC
The contest was an old-school (read: original) style freestyle contest hosted by Kenta Takahashi and Kei Fujii. It was a unique attempt to perform freestyle in the ring of professional wrestling at a permanent ring venue, and it is a new contest using the limited construction of the old-fashioned old school.

The 2024 Old School Yo-Yo Contest was held August 24, 2024 in Post di Amistand, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
