The Tom Kuhn No Jive Woody - Cliff House - Seal Rocks edition, fixed axle yo-yo, circa 1977-1980.
A maple three piece wooden yo-yo made by Tom Kuhn YoYos Ltd. of San Francisco. Two famous San Francisco landmarks are depicted on one side of the yo-yo: the Cliff House and Seal Rocks. View is looking north-west from the Sutro Heights park with Point Lobos Avenue seen in the foreground. Both sightseeing locations are within a ten minute walk from Tom's residence on 48th avenue. In August 2015, Tom and I enjoyed a delicious lunch together at the Cliff House. It was a first-class restaurant with beautiful ocean views until it closed December 2020 due primarily to the COVID-19 pandemic. News sources suggest that it will reopen eventually with a new restaurant, retail shop, and an event space.
Stories vary as to how this yo-yo model was sold. Some have suggested that they were sold by Tom Kuhn by way of a street display in San Francisco. Others have told me he sold them from his dental office.
The yo-yo was originally sold standalone; no packaging or drawstring bag.
