Unlike the Duncan Freehand One model, released at the end of 2021 which was made by injection molding, the Duncan white Freehand Delrin seen in this exhibit, was machined out of POM (polyoxymethylene), also known more popularly by the brand name Delrin.

The A-grade white Freehand Delrin debuted Friday, August 18, 2023 in Osaka Japan, exclusively at the World Yo-Yo Contest 2023. Other colors of this model that also debuted exclusively at the contest were red, blue, green, and black. On Friday, September 15, 2023, at 18:00 MST, nearly a month after the contest, numerous yo-yo webstores in Japan and the USA sold the Freehand Delrin, most in all four colors—except white. The spingear.jp website was the exception. They were the only webstore that received and sold what few A-grade white Freehand Delrin yo-yos were leftover from the contest (total production number for white is unknown). Of course, the white version sold out in less than 60 seconds. All four remaining colors were sold out within several hours, across all yo-yo webstores. It was a popular Duncan release. The box in the plastic packaging contained one neon yellow stringb and one extra bearing; nothing else.

Regarding the release of the Freehand Delrin and the Freehand PC, Mr. Bryan Jardin, Duncan's marketing manager said, "POM/PC is so expensive, it’s close to bi-metal costs. Not just that, we are talking about two components [side caps and body halves], and a lot of B-grades. This was supposedly around $64.99 but we took the loss to make it more reasonable to purchase." He also stated, "This will probably [be] the last run [of the POM delrin and PC polycarbonate Freehands]. It's too much work, lol." And, "Sean [owner of beyondyoyos.com] has 20+ white B-grades. Unfortunately, the POM white is not matching each halves. But dead smooth. When our factory ordered the components, they did not match the raw materials and only noticed [the color mis-match issue] after it was machined and assembled. Maybe when he gets back to the USA, he’ll sell it to his store, or to YoYoExpert." (Rick: To my knowledge, that never happened.)

From spingear.jp:
"Freehand carved body.

While the injection-molded Freehand One reproduces the original Freehand, this model has a modern hub + spacer structure at the center and comes standard with a binding specification.

The bearing size is C size, and the pad is SG sticker large (slim size).

There are two types: a PC (polycarbonate) version and a POM (polyoxymethylene) version, and it is fun to compare the two different materials.

Although the yo-yos are made of two different materials with different specific gravity, the design has been adjusted to suit each material, and [Duncan] is particular about making both yo-yos about the same weight."
