The maker of this wooden yo-yo is unknown, but the license was issued by the Buzzy Bee Co. located in Warkworth, New Zealand, home of the Buzzy Bee. While the actual maker is not mentioned, items from this line were typically manufactured in China for Buzzy Bee. The yo-yo is a very well-made wooden, fixed axle wooden yo-yo with the same profile as the BC/What's Next Hip Pocket yo-yo, but with a smaller diameter (52mm). Circa 2000.
The Buzzy Bee has been New Zealand's number one kiwi icon for more than 50 years. The character is still a popular symbol of New Zealand's national identity and was even featured on a New Zealand postage stamp in 1994 and again in 2006. Notice that the card uses a meadow, trees, flowers, and sky illustration that ties the toy to its New Zealand roots.
