The official Bandai Hyper Yo-Yo bag was released during the late 1990s yo-yo boom in Japan, when Bandai partnered with Yomega and Duncan to market the Hyper Yo-Yo brand nationwide. It was made from durable nylon, and prominently featured the Hyper Yo-Yo logo embroidered in red, blue, and white. It also feature red elastic cord webbing across the front flap designed in a stylized atomic shape.
The bag was actually designed with dual functionality. It could be worn as a standard backpack, using adjustable shoulder straps. When not needed, the straps could be tucked neatly inside the bag, hidden from view, transforming it into a hand-carry case with its top handle. There was also an attachable/detachable shoulder strap. Note the visible tag attached to the zipper. The tag was also a peelable Hyper Yo-Yo sticker.
Hyper Yo-Yo accessories like the bag seen in this exhibit, along with branded hats, yo-yo lanyards, shirts, patches, bandanas, face towels, gloves, sweat bands, and other apparel helped to reinforce Hyper Yo-Yo’s identity as a lifestyle brand in Japan, not just a toy.
