The Yomega Fireball shown here features translucent red caps with white imprinting and glow-in-the-dark body halves. It likely dates back to the early 2000s. The phrase “good life good Yo’ing” appears clearly on the side, but the stylized, graffiti-like text above it is difficult to decipher and its meaning remains a mystery.
This version of the Fireball was protected under US patent 4,895,547. The original patent application was filed on January 27, 1989, by Leonard R. Amaral. The patent describes a high-performance yo-yo designed for extended spin time and ease of use, even for beginners. It incorporates two yo-yo halves connected by an axle with a low-friction polymer spool that rotates freely. The string attaches to the spool, allowing the axle to spin independently within it. The yo-yo’s performance benefits from specific design tolerances, such as the axial play of the spool and spacing between the halves.
The patent was granted on January 23, 1990, and its status today is listed as Expired - Lifetime.
