This BC/What's Next model was a modified-shaped yo-yo, in a similar vain to the BC Hip Pocket Yo-Yo. These BC yo-yos models with this profile were not popular among yo-yo players and are quite hard to find now. They were released at the end of the yo-yo boom, when dead, unresponsive yo-yos were quickly replacing fixed axle yo-yos in popularity. This yo-yo was never sold anywhere else except the 2000 National Yo-Yo Contest and the Bird in Hand store, both in Chico, California.
Solid maple body with blue, green, and yellow iridescent imprint of Bird in Hand Chico California on side A and I Wound Up in Chico on side B. Yellow was airbrushed on the outer diameter face of each halve and green airbrushed on the outer rim and inner wall of each halve.
Notice the cracking on the clear coat on the outer diameter seen in the Side A and Side B images. This issue is a significant problem on many BC/What's Next yo-yos from this era. It is almost always due to environmental or application issues such as a temperature differential between the wood and the clear coat getting applied. Or, environmental conditions such as excessive heat or humidity during application and curing.
