The Area 51 Yo-Yo Club was a virtual club hosted on the former Yahoo Groups platform during the yo-yo boom of the late 1990s. The club had several custom BC/What's Next and Tom Kuhn yo-yos made available for sale to their members, exclusively; the yo-yos were never sold by online web stores.
The fixed axle, maple yo-yo in this exhibit is an unusual bi-colored, concave model. Sides A and B each feature a different Area 51 logo. The profile suggests that it was either made using old Hummingbird-era Trickster concave body halves or new Trickster concave body halves made by BC/What's Next. Regardless, the yo-yo profile from Brad Countryman is uncommon.
Total production numbers are unknown. The yo-yo came out at an unfortunate time when players were moving completely away from wooden yo-yos. Instead, they were embracing the dead, unresponsive play that was found in newer plastic and metal yo-yos.
Today (2025), this particular BC/What's Next model is quite hard to find.
