The AL - 2000 aluminum ball bearing yo-yo made by Giocattoli Toys of Italy under the brand called Play. It presumably came out around 2000. You could use either the ball bearing axle that was pre-installed on the yo-yo, or you could optionally install the wooden axle sleeve that was enclosed in the box. One halve was green; other halve was yellow. Both halves have the same black imprint. Came with one cotton string.

Despite its similar appearance to a Tom Kuhn SB-2, there are some interesting differences. The SB-2's hub nub was shaped like the tip of a bullet head. Whereas the hub nub on this model uses an axle with a black locking nut and washer on both sides. Notice that the outside rims are slightly grooved. Also, the inside rim on this model is flat whereas the inside rims on an SB-2 are tapered into a slightly rounded groove.

An interesting and very hard to find European release. The swapable axles and aluminum body suggest that this model may be much later than the early twenty aughts.

Instruction sheet
A small, one-sided instruction sheet was folded and included in the box. The translation of the Italian text into English is as follows:

Logo (left column, top)

Installing the string (left column, 2nd row)
Unwind the end of the string to make a large loop. Pass this loop around the axle of the yo-yo, always keeping the string taut, then let the string rewind back to its initial position.

Adjusting the string (left column, 3rd row)
Adjusting the length of the string is very important when starting to play with the yo-yo. To do this, simply leave the yo-yo flush with the ground and cut the string about 10cm above your waistline.

Adjusting the string tension on the axle (left column, 4th row)
Correct string tension is essential for the rotation of the yo-yo. If the yo-yo does not "SLEEP" it means that the string is too tight around the axle. To tighten or loosen the string, rotate the yo-yo clockwise and counterclockwise respectively as it hangs from the string.

(right column, top)
This is one of the best yo-yos in the world. All components are guaranteed to be the best obtainable quality using only the best materials, advanced technologies, and great attention to detail. This is why you will find that this yo-yo is robust, reliable, and suitable for all types of performances.

Rewinding the string (right column, middle)
Make a loop with the thread around the index finger then make another 3 or 4 directly around the axis of the yo-yo. Remove your finger and keep rewinding to the end.

Ball bearing axle and wooden axle (right column, bottom)
You can choose to use both. The ball bearing axle lets the yo-yo have a very high rotation speed and is perfect for all the most complex string tricks. The wooden axle is suitable for looping tricks with the yo-yo. When you replace the axle, it is recommended that you do not tighten the yo-yo nuts to much so that the yo-yo is free to work perfectly.
