Laminated Tom Kuhn "Sleep Machine" yo-yo with multiple stripes/layers of the red, purple, yellow, and orange wood. Came packaged in a TK-branded box that held the instructions, royal blue velour pouch, extra strings, and a booklet on Yo-Yo Play by TK.
This laminated version is uncommon. In 2003, during a series of research and development sessions for the new laminated Sleep Machines, What's Next Mfg. created a series of seven different colored prototypes that were never put into production. The Sleep Machine in this exhibit was one of those laminated colored prototypes. These were unique yo-yos with few (approximately less than 50) made.
Uses a size I ball bearing axle and Turbo Discs for response.
From the What's Next Mfg. website:
"The Sleep Machine is the world's longest spinning, most technologically advanced wooden yo-yo. This seemingly traditional classic actually sports a patented internally adjustable, non-slip string gap mechanism and ball bearing axle. Add in Dr. Yo's Turbo Disc Technology and you get one awesome all-around performer that still has the look and feel of the classics!"
Original retail price: $60 US.
