A Jack Russell-like yo-yo made by Magic Yo-Yo S.A. with a Coca-Cola image on one side. The opposite side has "Psycho Zid" in text and an image of the Psycho Zid character seen on the card. Yo-yo is plastic and uses a wood axle and starburst response. The yo-yo was made in Argentina but purchased in Denmark in 1998. It has the familiar Coke bulge face on each halve. The yo-yo is listed under Jack Russell in this museum because of the design.
Beside the model in this exhibit, there were two other yo-yos in this series: Crazy Joe character (same Coke side cap, black rims), and Groovy character (same Coke side cap, red rims). The three yo-yo series also included a Coca-Cola branded yo-yo trick booklet featuring all three characters on the title page. Coca-Cola branded white plastic bags of three cotton strings also featured the three characters and the same round Coke logo that is seen on the yo-yo side cap.
This particular yo-yo model is tied to the Coca-Cola Europe-wide yo-yo boom around 1994–1998, when Coca-Cola partnered with local distributors and yo-yo companies like Jack Russell Promotions and Magic Yo-Yo S.A. to host national yo-yo competitions across Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
Produced by Magic Yo-Yo S.A. (Sociedad Anónima; simply means "Corporation" or "Incorporated"), P.O. Box 7, Fleet, Hampshire GU1 3 8YX, England. Manufactured in Argentina by IMAP SAIC for Magic Yo-Yo S.A.
IMAP SAIC stands for Industrias Manufactureras Argentinas de Plásticos, Sociedad Anónima Industrial y Comercial
• IMAP – Acronym for Industrias Manufactureras Argentinas de Plásticos ("Argentine Manufacturing Industries of Plastics").
• SAIC – Acronym for Sociedad Anónima Industrial y Comercial (a specific corporate designation in Argentina that means “Industrial and Commercial Corporation with Limited Liability.")
IMAP SAIC is a plastic manufacturing company based in Argentina (still in business as of 2026), and the "SAIC" part indicates its legal status as a registered industrial and commercial corporation. They are known to have manufactured promotional toys and items like yo-yos, often under contract for brands like Coca-Cola. One such example is this yo-yo model. | |
