A special edition of the Playmaxx ProYo II, marketed as the Bandai Hyperloop, but never retailed in stores. While it's not clear exactly when this yo-yo appeared, 1998 (and 1999 for that matter) was a huge year for Bandai in terms of yo-yo popularity in Japan. This fact may suggest that Bandai gave away these yo-yos to Bandai shareholders at the end of their fiscal year. Other reasons abound. A very unique release.
If you are trying to collect this yo-yo, be aware that the official release has the same shareholder side cap on both body halves (the yo-yo in this exhibit is not the official release; it was intentionally altered by the seller). And, the packaging is taped on both sides and across the top with clear cellophane tape. If the package is not taped and/or one side of the yo-yo is missing the shareholder side cap (that is, the side cap is replaced with a ProYo II cap or a blank foil cap as seen on the yo-yo in this exhibit), the yo-yo has been tampered/altered. Finally, each body halve of the official release was a different translucent color. The body halves of the yo-yo in this exhibit are both translucent purple, another indicator that it has been altered.
