The aluminum Duncan World Class AL 2023 debuted exclusively for sale at the 2023 World Yo-Yo Contest in Osaka, Japan, August 18-20, 2023. Several weeks later, this model, along with five other colors (silver body/red cap [2023 World Yo-Yo Contest edition], black, silver, and blue) went on sale publicly at various webstores around the world on September 7, 2023, 20:00 MST. This model featured the same side cap design as the original plastic, fixed axle version from 1979.

From spingear.jp:
"The >original Duncan World Class
It is said to be probably the world's first H-shaped model.

It also set a Guinness record for the longest sleep, but it disappeared without being continued as a lineup.

Perhaps this was due to the limitations of the yo-yo, which was considered a "toy" at the time, or perhaps things could have been different in recent years, when yo-yo performance became more important.

Around 2000, a dead stock original model was sold on the Infinite Illusion website, and a World Class (probably a resale version) excavated from the Duncan office was also available at Spin Gear.

This model, which is quite unconventional among Duncan's yo-yos, has been reprinted as a full metal hollow model. It is rare for Duncan to release an H-shaped yo-yo, so it is recommended as a collection.

It's a model that feels similar to a Duncan Firebird 2, but from my current perspective, it feels narrower. It comes with a size A bearing, and like the original World Class, its diameter is small compared to the diameter, so it reproduces the pulling sensation that the yo-yo feels when it moves."

From yoyostorerewind.com:
"Duncan - World Class

The classic "World Class" yo-yo model has been remade as a metal model.

In the 1980's, when yo-yos had fixed axes, the World Class was the most famous competitive yo-yo model of its time, and now it has been remade as a metal yo-yo.

At the time, the World Class was a plastic model with a wing-shaped H profile, weighted rim, and bearings with a concave center, all elements of modern competitive yo-yos. Looking back, it was a masterpiece that was more than 20 years ahead of its time.

[Duncan has] now made a full metal version of that world-class model, with an H-profile and hollow flat cap construction, and the look has been reproduced quite well. Unlike the ones from back then, this one has size A bearings, pad response, and bind specifications. Enjoy playing as a slim type yo-yo or collect it as a reminder of those days."
