Sponsors and Curators
The Museum of Yo-Yo History is a labor of love, and we would not be able to stay up-to-date with exhibits without the support of our sponsors and curators. Big thanks go to One Drop Design and Duncan for supplying us with their latest models, YoYoExpert for their help and support, and to Cody Orr, TotalArtist and YoYoBrothers™ for allowing us to use their collections!
If you're a manufacturer, or just a big collector and you want to help support the Museum drop me at line at chimera@yoyomuseum.com

Bandai Hyper Yo-Yo’s Flamewing was an expert-level yo-yo released in 2010, designed to compete with Bandai Hyper Yo-Yo’s Mercury—known in the U.S. as YoYoFactory’s F.A.S.T. 201. At the time, the Flamewing became the new favorite model of top-level yo-yo performer Rei Iwakura.
This yo-yo was a Japan-exclusive version of Duncan’s DragonFly, rebranded for Bandai’s Hyper Yo-Yo series. It was the first Duncan string trick model to enter the Hyper Yo-Yo lineup. With a butterfly (wing) shape, the Flamewing was well suited for advanced string tricks like Stop and Go and allowed for extended sleep times—an advantage for clearing Super- and Hyper-level tricks. As an official Hyper Yo-Yo (accessed June 16, 2023), it could also be used to achieve Hyper Yo-Yo certification.
The Flamewing was ideal for beginner and intermediate players, offering all the performance features needed to master both traditional and modern tricks. It was packaged with a care and trick guide.
About Bandai Hyper Yo-Yo
Bandai, one of Japan’s most iconic toymakers, partnered with top global yo-yo brands to create exclusive models for its Japan-only Hyper Yo-Yo series. The initiative was aimed at reigniting the massive Hyper Yo-Yo boom of the late 1990s, which sold more than 20 million yo-yos worldwide and left a long-lasting impact on the international yo-yo scene that is still noticed today in 2026. The brand was revived in 2004, in 2010, and again in 2024-25 to inspire a new generation of yo-yo players.
For the 2010 revival, Bandai enlisted Duncan, Yomega, and YoYoFactory to contribute their top entry-level models, while Bandai used its powerful production and marketing capabilities to fuel the renewed yo-yo craze in Japan. During that time, yoyorewind.com carried only the 2010-era Hyper Yo-Yos, and only models released in or after 2010 were eligible for official Hyper Yo-Yo certification.
Released 2010.
