Sponsors and Curators
The Museum of Yo-Yo History is a labor of love, and we would not be able to stay up-to-date with exhibits without the support of our sponsors and curators. Big thanks go to One Drop Design and Duncan for supplying us with their latest models, YoYoExpert for their help and support, and to Cody Orr, TotalArtist and YoYoBrothers™ for allowing us to use their collections!
If you're a manufacturer, or just a big collector and you want to help support the Museum drop me at line at chimera@yoyomuseum.com

An early Yomega replacement-string envelope—a small manila packet that originally held spare yo-yo strings for their first-generation Yomega, The Yo-Yo with a Brain.
On the front, notice the classic early YOMEGA logo and the slogan "The Yo-Yo with a Brain"—the marketing line used for Yomega’s revolutionary auto-return "Brain" yo-yo.
On the back, the letterhead reads "YOMEGA CORP." with the address 1641 North Main Street, Fall River, MA 02720. The contact details include a (617) 672-7399 telephone number, a TELEX number, and an EasyLink address—communications channels common before widespread fax and e-mail.
Dating the string pack
There are several key clues that place this envelope in the early (likely 1984 when Yomega began business) to mid-1980s. The first is the area code 617 – Fall River used 617 until July 1988, when it switched to 508. Telex and EasyLink lines – these were still standard business contact methods in the early- to mid-1980s but were phased out by the 1990s. And finally, the tagline usage – "The Yo-Yo with a Brain" began appearing soon after Yomega introduced the Brain in 1984.
Taking all these factors together, the envelope almost certainly dates to circa 1984-1987, making it one of Yomega’s first accessory string packs produced for retail or mail-order customers.
Original retail price: $1 USD. | |
