Sponsors and Curators
The Museum of Yo-Yo History is a labor of love, and we would not be able to stay up-to-date with exhibits without the support of our sponsors and curators. Big thanks go to One Drop Design and Duncan for supplying us with their latest models, YoYoExpert for their help and support, and to Cody Orr, TotalArtist and YoYoBrothers™ for allowing us to use their collections!
If you're a manufacturer, or just a big collector and you want to help support the Museum drop me at line at chimera@yoyomuseum.com

The Duncan Professional was a plastic yo-yo with a fixed metal axle and starburst response, first released in 1971. At that time, it was essentially a Duncan Tournament yo-yo that was chrome-plated and used word "Professional" in its seal. Three years later, however, Duncan redesigned the shape and profile of the Professional to create what you see in this exhibit: a slimline model.
The printed text on the side of the box says:
"The Duncan Professional Model is molded in a special type of plastic. It is then metal plated with the same process that is used in automobile manufacturing. It is perfectly balanced for finest performance."
The text, which does not match the yo-yo found in the box, indicates that the box used was likely leftover packaging from the chrome version. Why Duncan chose to release the slimline this way is unknown, given that the yo-yo was already mounted on its own hanging card. Note the model number printed on the side panel of the box is 3270. However, the model number printed on the back of the yo-yo's card is 3260.
The slimline Professional remained in Duncan's product line-up for many years, appearing with the same profile and clear side caps, but with different pog inserts. Some of these "Professional" variations over the years included the following:
• 1974 - Professional, carded
• 1977 - Bandai 'P'
• 1980 - Yo-Yolympics
• 1980 - Wonder Woman
• 1980 - Tsukuda Original Sports Yo-Yo
• 1981 - Oh, Oh, Yo-Yo
• 1981 - Professional, display boxed
• 1982 - Pac-Man
• 1982 - Tron
• 1986 - Tsukuda Yo-Yo Master
• 1989 - Galaxy (coming soon!)
• 1994 - Professional, with trick book
• 1994 - Madman
• 1997 - Alien
• 1997 - Hyper Millenium
• 1998 - Detective Conan
In the early twenty aughts, Duncan discontinued the Professional model. In fact, when the Duncan 2003 catalog was released, it no longer showed the Professional in the product line.
