Sponsors and Curators
The Museum of Yo-Yo History is a labor of love, and we would not be able to stay up-to-date with exhibits without the support of our sponsors and curators. Big thanks go to One Drop Design and Duncan for supplying us with their latest models, YoYoExpert for their help and support, and to Cody Orr, TotalArtist and YoYoBrothers™ for allowing us to use their collections!
If you're a manufacturer, or just a big collector and you want to help support the Museum drop me at line at chimera@yoyomuseum.com

The Duncan Freehand One 2022 - U.S. National Yo-Yo Contest, also known as the Freehand One 2022 - USA! edition. Had a pink, red, blue, white body with light blue side caps featuring a bald eagle's head wearing sunglasses.
From Duncan:
"In 2001 the original Duncan Freehand was launched and with it came a change in the world of yoyos. Duncan had tapped into something unique. Although the why was not fully understood, everybody recognized it: the Freehand was special.
In addition to launching a new style of play, the Freehand’s shape, aesthetics, and feel made it into an instant classic. Over the years Duncan has explored many different designs emphasizing various elements of the original, but with different materials and shapes. With great pleasure, on the original Freehand's 20th anniversary, Duncan is returning to their roots with what might be the best plastic Freehand yet!
The Freehand® collection stands alongside the Imperial® and Butterfly® as one of the most iconic series in the Duncan line, so it was important for Duncan to make it right! ? This February 2022 run was the official production model for the Freehand's One return. Besides the green body with yellow caps, it was also available in a yellow body with yellow caps, black body with white caps, blue body with black caps."

The USA! edition was initially made available at the 2022 U.S. National Yo-Yo Contest in Mesa, Arizona held June 24-26, 2022. When the contest ended, all remaining stock was sold to the public by various online web stores, starting Friday, July 8, 2022. The side cap on this yo-yo features artwork created by the late Paul Escolar. The artwork was previously unreleased on any other yo-yo. A portion of this yo-yo's sales were directed to Paul’s family. Also, this model was *not* sold in the standard bubble blister packaging used by other Freehand One 2022 models. Instead, it was sold in a stapled polybag along with a translucent dark blue dice and two response pads. The white string was already wound onto the yo-yo.
Original retail price: $29 US.
You can easily distinguish a Freehand One from 2022 from a vintage Freehand version. The 2022 versions have a quality control code -- as do all Duncan yo-yos made today -- printed on the face of one side cap. | |
