Sponsors and Curators
The Museum of Yo-Yo History is a labor of love, and we would not be able to stay up-to-date with exhibits without the support of our sponsors and curators. Big thanks go to One Drop Design and Duncan for supplying us with their latest models, YoYoExpert for their help and support, and to Cody Orr, TotalArtist and YoYoBrothers™ for allowing us to use their collections!
If you're a manufacturer, or just a big collector and you want to help support the Museum drop me at line at chimera@yoyomuseum.com

The Hummingbird Trickster was the first production yo-yo made from laminated, dyed wood. Strips of natural maple were dyed in various colors and then laminated together, creating vibrant, layered designs unique to each yo-yo. Lamination not only added visual appeal, but also resulted in a slightly heavier, stronger product that was far more resistant to long-term shrinkage and warping than traditional single-piece wooden yo-yo halves.
Hummingbird ceased operations in 1994, but resumed in 1996 under the name BC/What's Next.
The version featured in this exhibit is the Canadian release of the Hummingbird Trickster, dating from around 1989. Notably, the packaging avoids the term "yo-yo" and instead uses the phrase "return top." This particular piece was purchased from a seller in Carleton Place, Ontario.
Expertly crafted from layered domestic maple sourced from New York, this Trickster came packaged with Hummingbird’s Nature in Motion trick booklet, a black velvet drawstring carrying pouch, and one extra cotton string.
The yo-yo is configured in Hummingbird’s signature Executive shape.
Original retail price: $7 USD.
