C3yoyodesign's Initiator was first released in 2015, received a sidecap design update in 2017, and 2018 was updated with an improved spacer and axle system and another new side cap design based on feedback from yo-yo competitors.
The biggest improvements were made to the spacer and axle system, making it even easier to handle and maintain. Right out of the box, Initiator is a perfect fit for players new to looping, and by switching to the metal spacer you get competition-level looping performance with minimum effort.
The new axle is much stronger than the 2015/2017 Initiator. It is made from a more robust material that is harder to break. This update also helped to reduce the chance of your yo-yo gaps becoming misaligned due to mid-air collisions of the yo-yos during looping.
Regarding performance, it does not matter what your skill level is or what kind of looping trick you are attempting–the Initiator is basically an all-around solid looping yo-yo for players of all abilities.
You can alter the responsiveness of the yo-yo by using thick or thin looping oil in the size K ball bearing axle. Aside from C3's own string, you could use Type 6 string(50/50), Type 8 string (50/50), or K-String's 100% polyester string. Although this model uses a starburst response system, it is an exception to the rule that you can use 100% polyester strings with this yo-yo.
