Sponsors and Curators
The Museum of Yo-Yo History is a labor of love, and we would not be able to stay up-to-date with exhibits without the support of our sponsors and curators. Big thanks go to One Drop Design and Duncan for supplying us with their latest models, YoYoExpert for their help and support, and to Cody Orr, TotalArtist and YoYoBrothers™ for allowing us to use their collections!
If you're a manufacturer, or just a big collector and you want to help support the Museum drop me at line at chimera@yoyomuseum.com

YoYoFactory's undersized POPStar yo-yo, first released in 2010, was re-designed and re-released in December, 2016 in a special black and red YoYoExpert edition. It was one of four plastic bagged yo-yos that were included in the 2016 Mystery Boxes sold exclusively by YoYoExpert. A few weeks later, in January 2017, this yo-yo was made available at YoYoExpert, boxed in YoYoFactory-branded packaging that you see in this exhibit.
Similar to the 2010 POPStar, the 2017 POPStar has a step straight profile. However, the "steps" on the 2017 version are narrower in width. Also, the 2017 version includes a dimple in the center of each halve intended for fingertip spins. Uses a size C Center Trac bearing and 19 mm slim pads for the response.
This 2017 edition was very short lived, due, in part, to quality issues in the shipped units (the yo-yo in this exhibit, however, was one of only a very few that did not have quality issues). The release lasted less than six months on the market before being discontinued/pulled from sale. On May 6, 2021, the yoyofactory.com website released all the plethora of 2017 Popstars as B-grade product. "This designation is indicated on the product as it did not reach a level of quality we were happy to release it as the full retail price. It may have incorrect laser art, imperfection in anodize or a lack of precision." The B grade versions were sold for $10 each.
Original retail price for A grade: $20 US
