Royal was best known for their wooden yo-yos made during the golden age of the yo-yo, the 1950's. But the owner of Royal, Joe Radovan, was an innovator and tried a wide range of variations.
Pictured here is an early Royal plastic yo-yo top. The same logo as some of the wood logos made by Royal, but impressed into a thick shell plastic yo-yo. No inner shells on these, just a ribbed inner surface, with fixed wooden axle and fixed string. An unusual combination of features and a great player, if replaced with a slip string.
