The Duncan FreeHand was the first of the FreeHand line. At the time, these were simply called"FreeHands", but with the release of the FreeHand 2 and FreeHand Zero, the original version is now often called the FreeHand 1 or Original FreeHand.
Designed by Steve Brown, it opened up the entire realm of FreeHand play and the idea of counterweights on yo-yos. Very popular, but plagued with production problems, the only proto mold was finally deemed unusable by Duncan, and production stopped. The FreeHand Zero replaced it in the Duncan line, but not until 2004.
All original FreeHands are highly sought after by collectors, and becoming more and more difficult to find.
