The Bionic is one of the most popular of the original FreeHands released by Duncan. Only about 500 bionics were made, and the swirled metallic finish made them an instant hit with collectors and players.

This very special Bionic was released and sold only at the 2001 National Yo-Yo Contest in Chico, California. A Very limited run of 50 of these were made. The Yo-Yo Ninja Boy / Nationals 2001 logo appeared only on one side. Standard FreeHand side cap on the reverse.

During the original release, these were simply "FreeHands". With the release of the FreeHand 2 and FreeHand Zero, the original version is now often called the FreeHand 1 or Original FreeHand.
