The Bionic is one of the most popular of the original FreeHands released by Duncan. Only about 500 bionics were made, and the swirled metallic finish made them an instant hit with collectors and players.

This one has white side caps, which may not be original. This one may have started with black caps like the main exhibit, and was modified by the owner for aesthetic reasons. FreeHand side caps were welded to the body. Axle screws sometimes created pressure which cracked the sides. Another possible reason for replacing the side caps. A very limited packaged Bionic with white caps was also issued to Duncan Crew members (the Duncan team), so this one could also be from that release.

During the original release, these were simply "FreeHands". With the release of the FreeHand 2 and FreeHand Zero, the original version is now often called the FreeHand 1 or Original FreeHand.
