In the late 1950's, the first satellites were placed into earth orbit to worldwide amazement. Duncan capitalized on that event with this new model. It's unusual shape, along with the times, made this one of Duncan's most popular models.
The Shrieking Sonic Satellite, like the one pictured, was sort of the "Satellite Deluxe". Besides the unusual shape and popular name, a shrieking whistle was added at the center of each side. Holes drilled from the rims to the center provide air flow for the whistle when the yo-yo was spinning. A very innovative idea. And these babies really whistle, loudly, not like the hum of the old tin whistlers.
