This variation of the Limited we don't believe were a general release, but rather from a test run. Until the late 80's, Hummingbird Limiteds did not carry a logo, to show the full beauty of the exotic woods. And some of the exotics were very hard wood, which made logo stamping difficult. However, for collectibility a logo was needed.
These were rescued from the final liquidation of the Hummingbird factory, and probably never meant to be seen. It appears that before the Limited stamp was made, this test run was done using the Classic Hummingbird die stamp. You can see why this stamp was not used from the condition of the final logos on the yo-yos. Still a very interesting and rare Limited run, and very collectible.
