A Tom Kuhn-branded single yo-yo holster made from two pieces of natural roughout leather, stitched together and riveted. Featured an integrated belt loop on the back and a narrow front snap closure. The Tom Kuhn logo was silver stamped onto the strap. The advantage of roughout leather was that, unlike smooth leather, it did not show wear quite as easily. It also required little maintainance other than a stiff bristle brush to remove any dirt or to raise the nap for a more even look. These early freshman holsters were made primarily for the Tom Kuhn Silver Bullet yo-yo in the mid 1980s. However, you could use the holster for just about any other Tournament-shaped (aka Imperial) yo-yo or Modified yo-yo such as the ProYo. Butterfly-shaped yo-yos were a bit more challenging to fit inside it because of their width.

Original retail price: $6 US.

Compare with Tom Kuhn yo-yo holsters from the mid 1990s that featured smooth outer leather, a roughout interior, and a wider strap.
