The Duncan Freehand 2 - Scooter edition in translucent yellow. This Freehand was released exclusively by VIVA SPoRT in Germany around 2010 and sold online by http://www.ideeundspiel.com/de/. The packaging featured the German music band Scooter. See also Scooter's official website (accessed November 12, 2023).
VIVA SPoRT marketed a variety of activity products such as skates, longboards, volleyballs, soccer balls, snorkeling gear, badminton gear, table tennis gear, darts, street hockey gear, stunt kites, boxing gear and, yes, yo-yos. From VIVA-SPoRT website: "viva-sport is a brand of game ideas. Our many years of experience in sports and our production facilities around the world enable us to quickly develop new products in order to keep our finger on the pulse. Test us and visit one of the almost 1000 specialist shops in Germany, Austria, Italy or Belgium."
Like other Freehand 2 editions that were released in the USA during the same time period as the model in this exhibit, this German edition included one set of spacers. When installed, the spacers slightly increased the width of the string gap making the yo-yo dead response instead of original response, the way yo-yos played for more than 80 years. Also included a CD-ROM of Freehand and off-string tricks. The Freehand Scooter also came with two replacement Duncan Friction Stickers (US versions of the Freehand 2 did not).
Original retail price: EUR 17,99 in 2010 (about $25 US) | |
