Walt Disney Productions and Duncan Yo-Yos collaborated many times over the years to produce a variety of Disney character-based yo-yos. This particular yo-yo was sold only in Europe and was promoted by Don Robertson, "European Yo-Yo Champion". The yo-yo was produced with two other characters from the Walt Disney line (Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck). This yo-yo has a purple plastic body with a picture of Goofy attempting to yo-yo, imprinted on the white side caps. The caps also contain the Duncan logo in light blue and the Walt Disney Production trade mark on the edge outer perimeter of the side cap face. The front of the bubble blister card has a picture of Don Robertson in the middle right shown performing the string trick "Rock the Baby" with a Duncan Special yo-yo model and wearing a sportcoat with a red patch over the left breast pocket on the jacket (the patch was doctored in the picture to hide any text or design on it). The card has the text "Its got to be Duncan says European champion Don Robertson" European yo-yo champion. On the back of the package are directions for throwing some basic tricks.
Some of these Don Robertson Duncans were made in West Germany (see the Duncan Fire Wheels exhibit). However, the back of the card for this model does not specify where it was made. It was likely either West Germany, Great Britain, or the USA.
Don Robertson was a European Yo-Yo champion around 1972 who first worked for Lumar (a European yo-yo maker), along with Art Pickles, a very popular yo-yo demonstrator from Britain. He then worked for Duncan Yo-Yo, also as a demonstrator. Watch Don Robertson demonstrating his yo-yo skills in front of an audience in 1990.
